Daimler AG breaks ground on car plant near Moscow

YESIPOVO, Moscow Region, Jun 20 (PRIME) -- Daimler AG is starting construction of a 16 billion ruble light vehicle plant in the Moscow Region on Tuesday.

“The light car facility is a strategic investment in an important sales market for Mercedes-Benz. We are expanding our local presence and strengthen our global competitiveness,” Markus Schaefer, a board member of Mercedes-Benz Cars, overseeing production, said.

The facility will start operation in 2019 to produce E class sedans and then GLE, GLC and GLS sport utility vehicles.
